Attorneys
Meyer Hendricks offers an exciting and challenging career
for attorneys of all ages and experience. Our complex and diverse practice
affords our attorneys with the opportunity to practice in various
types
of litigation and to represent an array of clients as both plaintiffs
and defendants. The firm also hires experienced attorneys at both
the associate and member level from time to time when we have a need
to expand and
when
the applicant has demonstrated exceptional performance in his or her
legal career.
The firm has three levels of employment for attorneys: associates; non-equity
members; and equity members. Although no set timetable exists for advancement
to membership, associates historically have been considered for non-equity
membership after 6-8 years of practice. Judicial clerkships are not
considered practice, although salary consideration is given for time
spent up to a year as a judicial clerk after graduation. Non-equity
members can expect to be considered for equity membership status after
two years. Non-equity members participate in firm management but do
not share in profits beyond discretionary bonuses.
Firm benefits for associate attorneys include full medical, dental
and vision coverage for the attorney and his/her dependents; a 401(k)
retirement
plan and a profit sharing
plan that vests at the rate of 20% per year; covered parking; payment
of professional dues and CLE costs; group life, long term disability,
and long term care insurance and a Section 125 flexible spending plan,
which allows use of pre-tax dollars to pay child care and uncovered
medical expenses. Non-equity members also receive a cell phone allowance,
reserved parking and personal, portable long-term disability insurance.
Associate compensation is based on years of practice, with credit for
judicial clerkships. Associates who bill at least 1950 hours each year
are eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus. Non-equity members'
compensation is decided by a compensation committee that looks at personal
productivity and business credits (for generation and/or management
of cases) as the principal factors in deciding compensation.
